The weather improves. 70 degrees versus 48 degrees.
People seem to get nicer. I can’t keep count of the sweethearts and sugars.
I recall how much I hate D.C. and Baltimore traffic.
The dogwoods and redbuds are blooming.
I can find sweet tea.
I find a station playing the Don and Mike show live. Oh, I can’t forget finding country music stations. NYC has no country music. None.
I find real comfort food i.e. spoon bread, Brunswick strew, and my favorite…Biscuits and sausage gravy. (Dinner tonight!)
I don’t get the usual, “Your accent is cute/different. Where are you from?”
I can find men who open doors.
I start to calm down and I begin to focus on what needs to be done. The pity party is postponed and I found my big girl panties.

Sounds like a Knott’s Berry Farm dream. I’m out here in California so that’s as close as it gets for me
But I do hold doors open!!!
Californian here too. I hold doors open, give way when you change lanes, help a lady carry bag full of soil, and say Good Morning to the bored security guard every day.
It helps that it’s always 77F and sunny here too.
If it weren’t for my husband, I don’t think anyone would get the door for me….
Biscuits can sop up a lot of stress. Enjoy what you can!
lol big girl panties… do you mean granny panties? Like in Bridget Jones’ Diary? eeeewwwwww lol Glad you’re feeling more relaxed
Long live the South, couldn’t exist for long anywhere else (at least not happily…)
Amen! Amen! Amen!
You also get the nice southern gentlemen (I married one!).
Bless your heart~ Have you noticed any clotheslines, screen doors, or pollen coated porches?
Although, I must be missing something. What do you mean the pity party is postponed? Golly, I must have missed a post. I hope everything is o.k.
I’ve been off line awhile and need to catch up~
Ann
I interpreted big girl panties more along the lines of taking off your diaper and switching into real underwear (because you are now officially potty trained!). I hope that is right, lol. Enjoyed this post because it is so true. Things get better and better the further south you go, that’s why I went all the way to Florida.
