I was looking at BrandweekNRX.com ’s site and I enjoyed looking at the various media ads they highlighted. The picture above definitely had me laughing.

HOUSTON (Reuters) – A Houston-area man was killed in a hunting accident after his dog stepped on a loaded shotgun in the back of a pick-up truck, triggering a blast that pierced the vehicle and the hunter’s leg, a local sheriff said.

Perry Price, a 46-year-old math teacher, shot a goose on Saturday then put his gun in the back of the truck where the dog was waiting to retrieve the bird.

“I’ve been in law enforcement 20 years and this is probably the strangest one I’ve had,” said Chambers County Sheriff Joe LaRive.

Investigators found paw prints and mud from the dog, a chocolate Labrador retriever named Arthur, on the shotgun, LaRive said.

Price was taken to a local hospital, but died from a loss of blood after doctors were unable to revive him.

Maps of War does a 90 second time-line of the world’s major religions. In my opinion there are a few inaccuracies, but not a bad start.

Plan59.com is a site that promotes commercial ads from the 1950’s. I think these ads of kids are especially funny and I haven’t laughed so hard since the 1997 Welch’s grape juice ads that featured Emily Mae Young. A little scary but still quite funny. I found this gem at CNN online. It was in their living section.  Chidi Ogbuta of Allen, Texas had dreamed of having a doll modeled after her and decided that her wedding cake would have to work instead. If I ever go to a wedding and see a cake like this, I think I might have to leave the reception so that I would not offend someone with my laughter. I can only shake my head and wonder what the **** was this woman thinking.

Luxeville is a UK company that sells these delightful Birds of a Feather mobiles. They are 40 pounds plus shipping and handling.

I was reading over at Today In Art and I saw this piece by artist Ron English. English’s work takes on the corporate world and puts a very satirical spin on popular images. I am fascinated by pop art and I have not come across a piece that I like as much as this one in a long time.

I never missed an episode of the Smurfs. There were 414 regular episodes and 7 specials from 1981 until 1989. I even went to a Smurf park in France. In Germany, one of my favorite candies were Gummi Smurfs (Haribo Die Schluempfe) which you can buy on Germandeli.com. Of course when the smurf glasses came to Hardees, I had to have the set. Over time they broke and became forgotten, until a few years ago when I came across a set at a flea market. Now I have the whole set and use them everyday. This means having to replace the ones that get broken periodically. I find that flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, auctions  and of course ebay are great places to find replacements.

I was surfing today and I discovered a new product by a company called Garmet Guard called Subtle Butt. Subtle Butt filters odor caused by flatulence to prevent social discomfort. I love the Coca Cola commercial with the Polar Bears and Penguins. Yes, I know that Polar Bears are in the Artic and Penguins are in the Antarctic and so other than escaping their pens at a zoo and rendezvousing over snow cones, you will never find them in nature together. I just like happy commercials. Coca Cola has also teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund to raise money to study how global warming is impacting polar bears.
