It is no secret that I love birds. I think this bird pendant by howlindoggie is beautiful. There are two different bird pendants in the shop and I tossed a coin to decide which to highlight.

Funky Little Kids Clothing Company makes some of the cutest little girl tee-shirts and tutus for girls! I have four nieces and this tee-shirt captures the essence of their personalities. Great gift for little girls!

Suck it up Cupcake, has been my personal mantra the last couple months and I was amazed to find it on this card by Porridge Papers.

I am a sucker for whimsy and bunnies. My favorite story as a child was the Velveteen Rabbit and I still have my stuffed bunny my grandma made me when I was five. This print by Belle and Boo just makes me smile.

The names of these cremes and rubs by Least Likely to Breed made orange Fanta come out my nose. It hurt but I’m okay.

I bought this print set for my niece’s birthday. The prints are by Emily Martin and her work is showcased in her Etsy store The Black Apple. Her work is whimsical, sassy, tough, and intelligent all rolled into one. She sells prints, originals, cards, bags, pins, and dolls. Good luck getting one of her dolls. Today I was on her site intending to look at the dolls to decide if I wanted one. They were gone in about 2 minutes. I didn’t have time to decide if $75.00 was too much for a doll. I found her prints to be very reasonable in price! Take a minute to check out her store or her blog!

I was Stumbling and found these baby shoes. For $18.50 your kid’s feet can look like packages of Cheetos or Ramen noodle soup….shrimp flavor. Yum.

I love art. I love birds. I love art that depicts birds. I found these on the Yumi Yumi Shopon Etsy. The artist, Aline *Yumi* Yamada, is having a sale at the moment, so if you purchase three prints, you get the fourth free! Her prices are reasonable as you can see and I think her prints are perfect for a child’s room or nursery.

I was on Craftzine.com’s site today. I enjoy reading the articles, blog entries and getting ideas for future projects. I came across this entry for a cute and colorful felt mobile on Etsy.com. Etsy is a craft-fair on computer steroids. There are currently 19177 items under the category knitting. You can purchase each of these items for the price listed by the crafts-person. I have been visiting the site for about a year now. What flabbergasted me today was that this abstract FELT mobile was listed for $200.00. All I could think was, “When does common sense tell you no?”. So I started looking at other items on Etsy and I found an unidentified creature that even though it is a plush toy, can’t be washed, which even the maker didn’t know what to call it for $140.00. I found a Six Footed Cyclops for $500.00, a Pink Chickenbaby that is half baby, half chicken for $300.00 and a porcelain gumball machine for $185.00. The gumballs are free because it can’t accept money. I had to stop looking after I found the $200.00 Pirate Donut that you stick your head through to wear it. You can see each item by clicking on the picture above. Homemade items have recently jumped in popularity due to issues with imported goods and the desire to have unique items. Etsy allows you to find talented people who do amazing work. One of the things that has drawn me to Etsy is that I felt that prices where fair and reasonable for the good offered. Lately though I have felt that a number of the craftspeople are touched in the head at the prices they set for items especially when there are 19000 items just like yours being sold or even better I can copy what you made for a fraction of the cost. Etsy has lost some of its luster in my opinion. On the good side of things, I see a Abstract Felt Mobile in the future for one of my nieces and I bet you I spend maybe $20.00 to make it. (Includes wrapping paper and birthday card.)
