Questions at the Dinner Table

February 13th, 2008 · No Comments · Gifts/Products

The Family Dinner Box of Questions from the Spoon Sisters made me think of my family. LONGGGGGGGG ago, during my senior year of high school, I think it finally hit my mom that our family would be changing once I went away to college. She really got into the whole schtick of everyone sitting at the table for dinner and talking about what we learned that day.  My little sister found an effective way of stopping this. I think for a whole week she shared in detail what she was learning in her sex education class. Nothing is better than listening to my sister describe the functions of each part of the female reproduction system and 10 physical signs that you might be suffering from Gonorrhea or other STD. The best was when she diagrammed what Fallopian tubes looked like on my mom’s kitchen message board to prep my mom for the coming dinner discussion. My mom did not give up on family meals but I don’t recall her ever asking open ended questions like, “What did you learn in school today?”.  I should get this for Mother’s Day.
