I was watching Oprah today and she had a number of talented kids on today’s show. One of those kids was a 15 year old named Charice Pempengco. Charice is from the Philippines and has been singing since she was four years old. I had never heard of her but apparently she is quite popular on You Tube. I thought she did a great job on an extremely difficult song. Check her out!
Oh my God! I watched her on Oprah too (this afternoon, eastern time). She’s just amazing, gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes….
Yeah, us Filipinos actually have a lot of talent in the culture… not sure why we don’t have huge internationals stars. I think the biggest problem with Filipino voices is a lack of range though. She’s amazing! Don’t get me wrong… but she’d probably encounter the same problem that Ramiele encountered on American Idol of being too predictable. Yikes. I sound so negative… I’m sorry… it’s just Leah Salonga was the only Filipina singer that I’ve ever heard that’s good enough to cross the border.
No negativity intended I swear!! Charice is brilliant!! hehe
She is amazing..i’ve been following her for quite sometime now..im addicted to all of her performances
WoW! I have never heard of her but she can certainly belt out a tune! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for dropping your entrecard on my blog – or else I wouldn’t have found this entry and be amazed by this child!
Such a powerful voice, gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes too…
I’m going to share this in my blog soon
She really has a fantastic voice. But what’s truly amazing is the string of international success she’s been having, all this attention. And to think she was just a runner up in a national singing contest back home.
Some have hinted Charice was “runner up” because the talent contest played favorites.
Charice comes from very humble circumstances, and had no “connections” in the Philippine entertainment world.
Her talent was overlooked until videos of her performances were posted on You Tube.
Now she is free to open her wings and FLY. Watch for this little girl to do big things in the future.
