After three years of devotion and loyal service my Nokia cell phone was laid to rest this weekend. I loved my Nokia. It vibrated. It had flashing lights. It had an awesome techno beat that could be heard from the bottom of any purse known to womankind. Over the past few weeks, she didn’t quite vibrate as much as she buzzed and I could hear others but they could not hear me. I haven’t determined the best environmental way to bury her, so for the moment she is laid out for viewing on my desk. Please bow your head for a moment of silence.
After hours of torture and unending research, I decided my new cell phone would be this:

This is the LG enV(2) in black. I have only had it for a few hours, so I will let you all know what I think in a later post. I am not ashamed to say I bought it so I could email and blog while on vacation.

I took my friend Connie to see the Statue of Liberty last fall. I got tired of the usual pictures and took this.

Wee Wonderful has finally added this stitchette to her store. This is a limited edition. The Quilting Bee is a darling piece of embroidery that features three of her characters Kit, Chloe and Louise. I have a needlepoint and a cross stitch project going and I still think I need to add this to the mixture. I am just not sure what to make with it. A pillow?

I came across a silhouette that a teacher did of me when I was in kindergarten. Silhouettes are easy and fun to do. They are timeless. If you like the aesthetic but don’t have the time, check out Simple Silhouettes. Meg Stearns is a 32 year old married mom based out of Austin, TX. She can take your photos and create a digital silhouette that is ready for you to frame or to give as a gift. She also sells original creations. I loved that she had a silhouette of an elephant!

Today is the day for your  Post It Note Project submissions. I am stuck inside with my lovely cast and it is raining and dreary outside.

I bought this print set for my niece’s birthday. The prints are by Emily Martin and her work is showcased in her Etsy store The Black Apple. Her work is whimsical, sassy, tough, and intelligent all rolled into one. She sells prints, originals, cards, bags, pins, and dolls. Good luck getting one of her dolls. Today I was on her site intending to look at the dolls to decide if I wanted one. They were gone in about 2 minutes. I didn’t have time to decide if $75.00 was too much for a doll. I found her prints to be very reasonable in price! Take a minute to check out her store or her blog!

I found this on Behind the Curtain’s blog. It is a chair by Nils Holger Moormann. The only thing that could make this a better chair would be if it had a motor and steering. I want this chair as much as I want a library with sliding ladders!

I saw this on Bloesem and loved Takashi Iwasaki’ s collages. This one is titled “Traffic Jam”.  I think collages are a great addition to a child’s room or your own creative space. Iwasaki’s work can be seen at the Tinlark Gallery in Hollywood until Feb. 23rd, 2008.

I love art. I love birds. I love art that depicts birds. I found these on the Yumi Yumi Shopon Etsy. The artist, Aline *Yumi* Yamada, is having a sale at the moment, so if you purchase three prints, you get the fourth free! Her prices are reasonable as you can see and I think her prints are perfect for a child’s room or nursery.

“NEW YORK (Reuters) – Four giant waterfalls will be erected in New York for three months this summer in a public art project city officials hope will create $55 million in extra tourism revenue for the Big Apple.

The waterfalls, including one that will fall from the famed Brooklyn Bridge, are the brainchild of Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. Installation will cost $15 million, funded by private donations to New York’s Public Art Fund.

“It’s about seeing water in a different way,” Eliasson told a news conference on Wednesday, unveiling plans for the waterfalls, which will range in height from 90 to 120 feet — around the same as the Statue of Liberty from head to toe.

Three of the waterfalls will cascade into the East River and New York Harbor from free-standing scaffolding towers that Eliasson said were part of his artistic vision, mirroring the scaffolding towers that sprout up throughout New York. The falls will be in place from mid-July to mid-October.”

Artist Olafur Eliasson lasts installation art piece “The Gates” was a huge success for NYC. I can’t wait to see the waterfalls.

I loved going to the Pecan Street Festivals in Austin, Texas. The first time I went to the festival I came across the artist Tonya Engel. A very engaging and fascinating young lady whose art is top notch. I love her work and I think you should take the time to enjoy each piece.
